SICB President Patricia Hernandez

Did you attend SICB as a student, or have you brought your own students to SICB?  Did the opportunity to network with more senior scientists at SICB impact your career? SICB takes pride in its status as one of the most student-friendly scientific conferences – it’s a place where students stand shoulder to shoulder with senior scientists at poster sessions, or speak together in sessions. The Charlotte Mangum Fund is SICB’s most important tool for supporting students at our annual meeting – it makes SICB possible for an enormous number of students, and Mangum applications are growing. Unfortunately, the Mangum fund is not fully funded, and each year SICB has to invest heavily to make up the funding gap.

SICB President Patricia Hernandez has issued a challenge to all members: donate to the Mangum fund in 2024!  All gifts are important, from very large to very small – the more SICB members participate in this challenge, the more others will be inspired to do so. A high level of member participation will also help us bring in additional student support funding from other sources!
