SICB 2007 Symposium
Phoenix, Arizona
January 3 – 7, 2007Articulate and Particulate – Mini-symposium in Honor of Dr. Steven Vogel
Organized by Tom Daniel (University of Washington) and Kate Loudon (University of California, Irvine)
Few individuals have had as broad an impact on the direction of the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology as Steven Vogel. Having applied the world of fluid mechanics to myriad organismal level functions, he has pioneered an entire discipline. From feeding and swimming, to dispersion and wind forces, from giant creatures to tiny ones, Vogel opened our eyes to how organismal design reflects physical constraints of the world in which they live.
A series of exciting talks are scheduled for
- Thursday Morning (S1-1)
- Thursday Afternoon(S1-2)
- Friday morning (S1-3)
- Friday afternoon (S1-4)
- Saturday afternoon (S1-5)
In addition, please join us for a social event Friday evening, from 7:30-10:00 pm in the Phoenix Ballroom (Hyatt), at which we will honor Dr. Vogel’s contributions to biological fluid mechanics, enjoy a select set of biomechanical posters, and celebrate the new Division of Comparative Biomechanics.
