Job Description:

The Biology Department at Skidmore College (https://www.skidmore.edu/biology) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Instructor position beginning in the Fall of 2022. Skidmore is a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York with a student population of 2,600, 26% of whom are domestic students of color, 10% are international students, and 15% are first generation students. Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students in a collaborative, undergraduate environment is essential, and the department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to diversity and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching. A postgraduate degree in Biology or a related field is required and prior teaching experience is desirable, although not required. The successful candidate will primarily be involved in the preparation and delivery of the laboratories of the department’s introductory biology courses. Depending on experience, they may have the opportunity to teach a lecture and lab course for non-majors. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per year) where each lab section constitutes 3 contact hours. Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in biology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

College-level teaching experience; proficiency with molecular/cellular biological techniques; experiences and expertise related to supporting a diverse and inclusive educational community
