Job Description:
The Biology Department at Skidmore College (https://www.skidmore.edu/biology) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall of 2023. Candidates from any sub-discipline of biology are encouraged to apply. Skidmore College is a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York, with a student population of 2,600 (8:1 student-faculty ratio), 26% of whom are domestic students of color, 11% are international students, and 15% are first generation college students. Skidmore is known for having faculty devoted to the instruction and mentoring of undergraduates. Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students in a collaborative, undergraduate environment is therefore essential, and the department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to diversity and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching. A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required and prior teaching experience is desirable, although not required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 200- and/or 300-level courses that contribute to the biology major in their areas of specialization. The average teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per year) where lecture sections are 3 contact hours and labs are 3 contact hours.

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in biology, or related field, is required.
