The Department of Biology in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in animal physiology that will begin on August 18, 2025. This is a full-time, 9-month position. Our Department is invested in supporting research scholars, and the successful candidate will establish a robust, independent, and externally funded research program, which includes mentorship and advising of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in our core lecture and laboratory courses in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology and will develop an advanced course that will contribute to our associated electives. The area of research specialization for this position is open, but we expect the research emphasis of the successful candidate will be in vertebrate physiology. Applications from candidates with research expertise in study systems ranging from fish to mammals will be equally considered. The successful candidate will have evidence of potential for teaching at the university level, a record of peer-reviewed publications consistent with time from graduation, and strong oral and written communication skills. The Department of Biology at UMD includes all fields of biology, and we offer both BA and BS undergraduate biology majors serving >600 students. Faculty members advise MS and PhD students in the Integrated Biosciences Graduate Program and the Water Resources Science Graduate Program, and are eligible for appointments in other graduate programs in the UMN system.
