To support the development and growth of our new major in Kinesiology and our existing majors in Biomedical Science and Biology, we seek a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences with a specialization in biomechanics, exercise science, kinesiology, mammalian anatomy or mammalian physiology to start August 15, 2025. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching, mentoring undergraduate research students, and will contribute to a dynamic academic community.

The successful candidate will be broadly trained in biology, with the ability to teach courses in the biological sciences core curriculum, and advanced courses biomechanics, exercise physiology, human anatomy, human physiology, or other courses within their specific area of expertise. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish a robust research program, involving undergraduate researchers, in their discipline.

Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate courses (typically 10-12 credits/ semester) according to expertise, generally from the following list: introductory biology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, human anatomy, human physiology, and additional courses aligned with the candidate’s specialization and department needs.
• Develop and teach a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) class in Exercise Science/ Kinesiology/ Biomechanics or related field.
• Develop and maintain an active research program that includes mentorship of undergraduate students in research within the candidate’s discipline.
• Contribute to curriculum development and assessment within the Department of Biological Sciences.
• Participate in service to the department, college, university, and broader community.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in relevant Biological Science, Exercise Science/ Kinesiology or related scientific field.
• Broad training in biology with expertise in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, mammalian anatomy or mammalian physiology.
• Ability to teach courses in biomechanics, exercise physiology, human anatomy, human physiology, introductory biology, and other courses within their specific area of expertise.
• Experience as an instructor or teaching assistant in relevant courses in biological sciences.
• Research experience and professional achievement in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, mammalian physiology or mammalian anatomy.
• A strong record of, or potential for, involving undergraduate students in science research.

Preferences:

• Preference for success as instructor-of-record in relevant courses in biological sciences.
• Preference for evidence of ability to develop and teach additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, and relevant to our majors.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to develop a research program in aspects of kinesiology/ exercise physiology using human subjects, with IRB approval.
• In addition to the required education, broad training in biology with expertise in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, mammalian physiology or mammalian anatomy.
• Experience as an instructor or teaching assistant in relevant courses in biological sciences.
• Research experience and professional achievement in kinesiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, mammalian physiology or mammalian anatomy.
• A strong record of, or potential for, involving undergraduate students in research.
