University of Florida: Postdoctoral associate in aquatic biomechanics

The Strother Lab at the University of Florida Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience is hiring a postdoctoral associate to conduct research in aquatic biomechanics. We seek a highly motivated applicant who has obtained a Ph.D. in biology, physics, engineering or a related field. Research experience at the intersection between biology and engineering or physics is preferred.

The Strother Lab focuses on questions at the interface between physiology, neurobiology, and physics in fishes and other aquatic organisms. We are located at the UF Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, a research center dedicated to studying fundamental problems in biology and applying that knowledge to issues of natural resources, the environment, and human health. This unique center is situated on the coast of St. Augustine, Florida and researchers enjoy access to a unique diversity of animals and plants.

Job Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biology, Physics, Engineering or a related field
  • Research experience in biological fluid dynamics
  • Ability to implement complex analysis through programming
  • Strong communication and writing skills
