Overview

The New York Institute of Technology, College of Osteopathic Medicine Department of Anatomy (Old Westbury Campus) invites applications for a postdoctoral position, renewable up to three years.  We offer competitive compensation and benefits, plus a yearly stipend to support research activities.

 

NYITCOM’s Anatomy Department includes nine full-time faculty with active research programs in computational biomechanics/neural control, evolution and development, and evolution of sensory systems. The successful applicant will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities including: a new Visualization Center equipped with micro-CT scanner, Amira workstations, 3D printers, portable laser surface scanners, and microscopy, a tissue staining lab for histology and DiceCT, an embryology lab for in vivo experiments, both human and animal gait labs for collecting kinematic, kinetic, respirometry, and EMG data, a fully staffed animal care center, and a new Center for Biomedical Innovations for robotics, VR, and AR. They will also enjoy proximity to major research institutions such as the American Museum of Natural History and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Fellow will devote approximately equal effort to research and teaching cadaver-based human anatomy to medical students. Preference will be given to applicants whose research focus complements ongoing research of anatomy faculty and those who have prior experience teaching cadaver-based human gross anatomy.

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the start date.  All But Dissertation (ABD) will also be considered. Previous anatomy teaching experience is strongly preferred.

 

The anticipated start date is July 1, 2022 (negotiable).
