The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher/Visiting Professor in Anatomical Sciences to support the delivery of our integrated medical curriculum on the Athens, Ohio campus. This position is renewable annually for up to three years, dependent upon performance and instructional needs. The successful candidate will have an estimated start date of August 1, 2023.
The selected candidate will join the integrative anatomy and biomechanics research group in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, allowing them to continue developing their research interests. Specific topical areas of faculty research include comparative and developmental anatomy, functional morphology and biomechanics, and vertebrate paleontology. The person chosen for this position will have 30% of their effort allocated to research (either independent or collaborative). There will also be opportunities for curriculum and/or activity leadership. The primary responsibilities will be to participate in a team-taught anatomical sciences active learning environment (70% effort).
Primary Responsibilities:
· Teach medical dissection-based human anatomy and potentially neuroanatomy and histology in an integrative team-based teaching and learning environment.
· Prepare anatomical prosections as needed.
· Commit to ongoing research and professional development activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal applicant should have at least two years of experience teaching dissection-based human gross anatomy at the professional school (e.g., medical, dental) level. A PhD in comparative anatomy, vertebrate paleontology or functional morphology/biomechanics is preferred, but ABD candidates with degree completion by September 2023 will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional background in teaching histology and/or neuroanatomy is desirable.
