The Holt lab has PhD positions in muscle physiology and biomechanics available for Fall 2025. We are seeking candidates interested in addressing questions of basic, comparative, and applied muscle physiology and biomechanics including but not limited to: 1) mechanisms of history dependence in muscle contraction; 2) scaling of muscle performance; 3) effects of early life exercise on the musculoskeletal system and; 4) locomotor energetics. We also welcome students who bring their own questions that are compatible with the techniques and expertise available in our lab. Students should have a background in biology (ideally including physiology, morphology or kinesiology), reasonable physics competency, good technical skills, and be kind and collaborative.
