The Williams lab is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to studies on the comparative biomechanics and physiology of mammalian feeding. Our research utilizes animal models to understand the dynamics of movements and motor control during chewing, swallowing, and other oral behaviors Candidate must also have a desire to participate in mentoring and will be expected to contribute to the broader scholarly environment within the lab and the Ohio Center for Ecology and Evolutionary Studies. The position will be based at the main campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. This is a 2-year position, with the possibility of an extension to a 3rd year.
Applicants should hold a PhD or be in the final stages of completion and have a strong background in integrative and comparative biology, with research experience in musculoskeletal functional morphology, biomechanics, comparative anatomy, and/or physiology. Experience with XROMM, electromyography, and/or diceCT is ideal. Applicants who have “all but dissertation (ABD)” will be considered but will be required to have their Doctoral degree conferred within 6 months of hire. Review of applications starts Jan 26, 2025.
