New College of Florida invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track position in Biology starting in August 2025. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching and research at the undergraduate level. This individual will have access to research facilities, including those in the Heiser Natural Science Building and the Pritzker Marine Biology Research Center (10,000-square-foot facility with research and teaching space and tanks up to 12,000-gallon). Our area has many opportunities for research collaborations, for example, Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and Myakka State Forest.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to course offerings that range from introductory to advanced and include organismal biology, the general biology introductory series, and other topics in the candidate’s areas of expertise such as, but not limited to areas like herpetology, fish biology, and biogeography. In addition to two courses per semester, the successful candidate will supervise undergraduate research and honors theses, and sponsor small student-centered tutorials.

Minimum Qualifications

 

We seek a broadly trained candidate with a Ph.D. in biology or a related field and ideally postdoctoral research and/or previous teaching experience.
