The Lake Forest College Biology Department and Health Professions Program invites applications for a one-year, full-time, visiting assistant professor, starting August, 2022. We are seeking a well-qualified biologist to teach a new Microbiology course for health professions students with lab, lab sections of our established biology course, Molecules, Genes, and Cells, and a biology senior seminar course in the candidate’s area of expertise. PhD expected, but postdoctoral training not required. Demonstrated excellence in teaching beyond traditional TA experience is preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm for liberal arts education.
We provide excellent mentoring of undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts college setting. Our department has federally-funded faculty and a new science building including a research-grade greenhouse, tissue culture lab, and aquatic and terrestrial vivaria. Members of the Biology Department actively engage in interdisciplinary programs in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Environmental Studies, Neuroscience and a new Health Professions Program.
