Job Description:
A full-time research technician position is available in Dr. Alexandra Bentz’s group at the University of Oklahoma. The position will involve local fieldwork on hormones and behavior in wild songbirds alongside management of data and research permits, laboratory organization and supply inventory, and basic molecular analyses of field samples. The technician will also collaborate with the P.I. and group members to contribute to and develop publications. Job Requirements:
Applicants are required to have a GED or high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education/job-related experience. Strong organizational and communication skills are highly desired. Finger and fine motor skills are required, and the applicant may be required to carry objects up to 25 lbs. Applicants must be able to sit or stand at the laboratory bench for repetitive pipetting and must be able to access and work in remote field study sites.
Preference will be given to applicants with a combination of the following:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Experience with bird capture and handling
Experience working in a molecular biology laboratory
Experience with DNA/RNA extraction and ELISA
Experience organizing and maintaining data records
