TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS

The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University in Normal, IL (https://biology.illinoisstate.edu/) invites applications for three nine-month tenure-track position in 1) POPULATION or COMMUNITY ECOLOGY, 2) THE ECOLOGY OF HUMAN-IMPACTED SYSTEMS, and 3) IMMUNOLOGY at the level of Assistant Professor.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF POPULATION or COMMUNITY ECOLOGY. We seek candidates whose research addresses fundamental ecological concepts at the level of populations or communities. Research systems could include laboratory or field and a computational component, and we especially seek applicants who will develop a local aspect to at least part of their research program. Candidates should be able to contribute to ecological, organismal, or biostatistics courses at the undergraduate or graduate level, including developing a graduate course in population and/or community ecology.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF THE ECOLOGY OF HUMAN-IMPACTED SYSTEMS. We seek candidates whose research addresses fundamental or applied questions about ecological interactions within human impacted environments that intersect with conservation biology, ideally including plants. Research foci could include restoration, urban, or disturbance ecology, or plant-animal interactions. We especially seek candidates with the ability to develop a research program with a local component. Candidates should be able to contribute to ecological, conservation biology, or organismal courses at the undergraduate or graduate level, including developing a graduate course with a conservation focus in their area of expertise.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF IMMUNOLOGY. We seek candidates who use innovative molecular approaches to study any area of immunology. These can include, but are not limited to adaptive or innate immunity, cellular immunology, regulation and signal transduction of immune responses, host-pathogen interactions, neuro-immunology, and development of the immune system. Candidates who plan to work with non-model systems are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be able to contribute to an undergraduate majors course in immunology and other related courses, and to develop a graduate course in their area of expertise.
Successful candidates are expected to establish a rigorous, nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program, publish scholarly research in quality, peer-reviewed journals, advise and mentor B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. students in their research groups, and provide effective evidence-based instruction in their discipline. A Ph.D. in the specific field of biology or a closely related field and relevant post-doctoral experience are required. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement of this position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The School of Biological Sciences comprises 24 faculty, 7 instructional faculty, approximately 65 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.), and over 660 undergraduate majors.
