Position Description
The Department of Biological Sciences at North Dakota State University invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure-track professor of practice position in Biomedical Science with a focus on Genomics to begin Fall 2022. Upon satisfactory performance this position is renewable and eligible for promotion to Associate and Full Professor of Practice. The position is 80% teaching, 10% research and 10% service. Teaching duties include introductory biology and cell biology, as well as developing and teaching other courses for biomedical science majors, especially within the genomics minor. Part of the teaching duties will include overseeing internships for students in the genomics minor. Start-up funding will be provided for travel, professional development and course development.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have: 1) An earned PhD by the time of appointment in biology, a biology-related field, or in science education from an accredited institution; 2) evidence of a commitment to teaching and student learning at the undergraduate level; 3) demonstrated research experience using genomic or bioinformatic approaches; 4) effective oral and written communication skills and 5) a demonstrated record and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in: 1) courses in genomic and bioinformatic techniques at the undergraduate or graduate level, 2) serving as instructor of record, 3) using student-centered pedagogies, 4) experience collaborating with other instructors on course design.
