A PhD position at the Holzman lab, Israel

Posted on August 16, 2022
Dear SICB members
I am seeking motivated and curious students to work on a BSF-funded project of feeding in Seahorses. Our project is focused on the evolution of the unique elastic energy storage mechanism in the seahorse’s head, which allows them to generate the fastest motions known in vertebrates. We focus on the evolution and biomechanics of this fascinating innovation, striving to understand how morphology, function and ecology co-evolved in seahorses and their relatives. This is a collaborative project with Matt McHenry in UC Irvine (https://mchenrylab.bio.uci.edu). Strong quantitative skills are required for success in the project.
The PhD will be given by Tel Aviv University. The position is based in IUI Eilat (https://iui-eilat.huji.ac.il) and students will be required to move here for the majority of their studies.
The start time is flexible. The position is opened until filled.
