I am a biology professor at Lassen Community College with over 24 years of college teaching experience. I always welcome a challenge and push the boundaries of being "just a biology instructor". I conduct research in the Lassen National Forest, focusing on the impact of forest fires and urbanization on the local watersheds. I am also an expert on the natural history of the aquatic spider genus Dolomedes.
I am a strong proponent of guiding first generation students in their pursuit of STEM degrees and currently working on developing a faculty-student mentorship for Natural Sciences on my campus. I am also a proponent of involving students in biology activities and research, which I find encourages their engagement and retention in STEM programs.
