Development Committee

This committee is broadly charged to assist the Executive Committee to develop and enhance resources for the Society to support its programs.

The committee consists of at least three members appointed by the President, each for a term of three years. The President appoints the committee chair and the Treasurer serves as an ex officio member.

-SICB Bylaws, Article XIV, Section 12.

The Development Committee has three major foci:

  • Estate Planning – Estate planning is a way to provide for lasting support for SICB in the form of a posthumous gift.  The forms you need to get this process started can be found here.
  • SICB Funds – SICB funds are those that support specific aspects of the society, including symposia, student paper and poster awards, lectures, scholarships, research awards, travel awards, and of course, the general fund.  Donations can be made to specific funds, or to the general fund, here.
  • Named Student Research AwardsNamed Student Research Awards are special awards meant to memorialize individuals in SICB who have passed away.  These are given to SICB graduate students who apply for support for their research either through the Grants-in-Aid of Research Program or the Fellowship for Graduate Student Travel Program (both of these are part of the many SICB funds mentioned above), and who are ranked as the very best in these two application poolsDetails for donating to or establishing a named award can be found here.
