Other Events Thursday.  Thursday, Jan. 5  Public Affairs Workshop: Distilling Your Message; Noon-1:30pm–Room14

This workshop will be conducted by The Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University, an organization that is dedicated to helping scientists communicate more effectively. In this innovative workshop, participants will learn to craft short, clear, conversational statements, intelligible to non-scientists, about what you do as a scientist and why it matters. The participants will learn to translate technical material using examples and analogies to illuminate unfamiliar concepts, and will be taught how to expand their statements into a short conversational presentation. Limited to 75 participants. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Public Affairs Committee.
