Effectiveness using of computer-based tools to teach a junior-level physiology course

BOILY, Patrice; Univ. New Orleans: Effectiveness using of computer-based tools to teach a junior-level physiology course

Over the last five years, I have gradually increased the use of computer-based tools to teach an upper-level physiology course. Specifically, I use computerized presentations for all my visual aides and a web site to provide course materials, such as the presentation files used in lectures, review questions, old tests, laboratory results and report guidelines. In this presentation I will discuss how these tools are used to support lectures and laboratories and the effectiveness of using these tools, both in regards to pedagogy and to time management. This assessment is based on my personal and subjective experience and on anonymous student comments received as part of regular course evaluations.
