The Department of Biological Sciences at Clemson University invites applications for a 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position to begin August 15, 2024.
We seek a candidate with interest and experience in teaching lecture and lab courses in vertebrate physiology, with emphasis on Human Physiology, Exercise Physiology, and other upper-division physiology courses in their area of expertise. Candidates with an interest in vertebrate anatomy and physiology from the cellular to organismal level are encouraged to apply. We invite candidates that promote engagement and foster inclusive excellence in the classroom.
Teaching responsibilities during the academic year would focus on delivery of in-person, large enrollment courses and labs. General expectations involve development and delivery of course content, laboratory coordination, assessment of students, use of the Learning Management System (LMS), assisting students during office hours, and working collaboratively with colleagues to improve the learning experience for Clemson students.
There may be future opportunities to teach in other areas or in online courses for the online M.S. in Biological Sciences program. There are also opportunities to teach on-campus, online, or study abroad during the summer. Successful candidates will have a desire to join fully in the varied activities of our large department and to take on service responsibilities as they progress through the ranks.
The Department supports faculty development at all ranks and tracks. Promotion through the three levels of lecturer ranks – Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Principal Lecturer – is expected. Salary level will be commensurate with education and experience, and a benefits package is included.
Qualifications
Successful candidates should hold a Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related discipline at the time of appointment. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated successful experience teaching university-level courses.
