As part of an initiative to hire leading research scientists with a strong commitment to promoting the success and mentoring of historically excluded and underrepresented students in the sciences, the Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University announces a tenure track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 2024 in the Life Sciences.
Chapman University, located in the heart of Orange County, California, offers traditional undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences and select pre-professional and graduate programs. Schmid College of Science and Technology serves an increasingly diverse body of students engaged in Biology, Biochemistry & Chemistry, Computational and Data Science, Environmental Science and Policy, Food Science and Nutrition, Mathematics, Physics, and Philosophy. The college is housed in the Keck Center for Science and Engineering.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to develop or continue their active research program and mentoring activities, as well as help design, implement, and assess innovative new programs that lead to demonstrable advances in diversity, equity, and inclusion for our students, faculty, and staff. Service and teaching expectations will not exceed those of any other faculty position and will be adjusted accordingly to support work on DEI initiatives and programs. Faculty appointments will be made at the Assistant Professor rank with current academic standing in one of the College’s academic programs. Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a field relevant to the Life Sciences, an outstanding record of scholarly publications, and a history of developing and plans for leading initiatives that advance diversity, equity and inclusion.
