The Department of Biology at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position, anticipated to begin Fall 2023. We seek an ecological modeler, broadly defined, with research quantifying and synthesizing spatiotemporal ecological patterns and processes across scales in relation to, for example, agroecosystems, behavior, biodiversity, biogeochemistry, climate or land use change, community assembly, conservation/restoration prioritization or interventions, disease, dispersal, ecohydrology, ecosystem services, food webs, forest management, migration, predator-prey dynamics, pollution, remote sensing, species distributions, or other areas that complement departmental strengths.
The ideal candidate will show potential to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program including research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, as well as a commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching, effective mentoring, strong academic support for our diverse student population, and service to the department and profession. Based on current workloads, teaching duties will include two courses per academic year, with subjects to be determined based on departmental needs and the selected candidate’s areas of expertise.
The Department of Biology administers both a Ph.D. program in Integrative and Conservation Biology and a master’s program in Biology. Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in biology or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of application.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have relevant postdoctoral training or work experience. A demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines is desirable.
