Personal Schedule
The Year 2003 Annual Meeting for the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) is an educational and research forum for scientists and students studying the biological sciences. The meeting will include many symposia, workshops and special programs in addition to hundreds of contributed papers in divisional and topical sessions. Watch this web site for Schedule of Events updates and the posting of abstracts in October, 2002.
Opening Session – Past Presidential Address
Join us for the Opening Session featuring Martin E. Feder, Professor of Organismal Biology and Anatomy, The University of Chicago, on Saturday, January 4, from 6:30-7:30 pm. He will speak on “Days of Miracle and Wonder: The Future of Integrative and Comparative Biology.” Professor Feder’s research is on evolutionary physiology and adaptation, and exploits emerging synergies among integrative biology, molecular biology, and genome-enabled science. His talk will explore how new modes of integration – scientific, social, and electronic – may revolutionize how we think about organisms. See: pondside.uchicago.edu/~feder/Martin_Feder.html
Special Symposia
In addition to the wide variety of divisional symposia, there will be one Society-wide symposium: Selection and Evolution of Performance in Nature. In addition, there will be two symposia that are co-sponsored with the Canadian Society of Zoology: Comparative Biology of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) and Hormones and MetabolismA Fishy Perspective and one Official CSZ Symposium: Biology of the Canadian Arctic.

Poster Presentations
There will be two sessions of Poster Presentations. Each poster session will run two days in the Exhibit Hall as follows:
- Poster Session 1 – Sunday and Monday
- Poster Session 2 – Tuesday and Wednesday
Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. The Question and Answer Sessions will be from 11:40 to 1:20 each day -presenters of odd poster numbers will present the first day, presenters of even poster numbers will present the second day. Box lunches will be available for purchase each day at noon to enable poster viewing.
Set-Up and Tear Down Times:
- Poster Session 1 (Sunday and Monday): Set up times will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Saturday evening, Jan 4 and 7:00 to 9:00 am Sunday morning, Jan. 5. Tear Down Time is from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, Monday.
- Poster Session 2 (Tuesday and Wednesday): Set up times will be 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday evening, Jan 6 and 7:00 to 9:00 am Tuesday morning, Jan. 7. Tear Down Time is from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, Wednesday.
Please note that in response to a majority of requests for poster sessions in the afternoon and due to scheduling conflicts for the Toronto meeting, we have rearranged the schedule of the program to have all poster sessions at noon time. There will be some conflicts but we have tried to minimize these as much as possible. We have decided to go with two full days of the same posters to allow more time for viewing, to allow more time at the exhibits and to reduce the conflicts that were occurring in the evening. We encourage the poster presenters that may have a conflict at the time of their scheduled presentation to put a note on their poster to state that he or she will be available at the second viewing time.
