Job Description:

The Biology Department at Skidmore College (https://www.skidmore.edu/biology) invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in ecology and/or evolutionary biology beginning in the Fall of 2022. Candidates from all areas of ecology and/or evolutionary biology are encouraged to apply. Skidmore is a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college located in Saratoga Springs, New York with a student population of 2,600, 26% of whom are domestic students of color, 10% are international students, and 15% are first generation students. Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students in a collaborative, undergraduate environment is essential, and the department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to diversity and excellence of the academic community through their inclusive teaching. A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field is required and prior teaching experience is desirable, although not required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 200- and/or 300-level courses that contribute to the biology major in their areas of specialization. The average teaching load is 9 contact hours per semester (18 contact hours per year) where lecture sections are 3 contact hours and labs are 3 contact hours. Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in biology, or related field, with a specialization in ecology and/or evolutionary biology is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior teaching experience or post-doctoral research.
