POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER: Biogeography
TWO-YEAR FIXED-TERM APPOINTMENT WESTVILLE CAMPUS
The School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences (SAEES), University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is pleased to announce a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biogeography. Applicants are expected to have experience with Geographic Information Systems, as well as knowledge of biogeographic and geomorphic processes. The successful applicant will work with Professor Şerban Procheş (School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences) and Dr Syd Ramdhani (School of Life Sciences) towards an understanding of how plant / animal endemism levels vary across erosional and depositional landforms in southern Africa and/or worldwide.
In addition, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow may be required to contribute to teaching and other related research projects, and to mentor Master’s and Doctoral students. The amount of the fellowship will be ZAR220,000 (two-hundred and twenty thousand rand) per annum for a period of two years. Renewal for the second year will be based on satisfactory progress in the first year.
Minimum Requirements

A Doctoral degree with a project including a biogeography or geomorphology component, completed during the last five years;

Experience with Geographic Information Systems;

A research track record as evidenced by at least three peer-reviewed ISI/DHET-listed journal articles published in the last five years, of which at least one as first author.
