Position Description
The Katz Lab at Western Kentucky University is recruiting an M.S. student to join our research team to work an NSF-supported project examining changes in mechanosensory neuron physiology and morphology during spinal cord regeneration in the larval sea lamprey.
This student will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrophysiology, confocal imaging, microdissection, and data analysis with opportunities to present findings at regional and national conferences. A substantial portion of this project will be completed at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA, during the Winter and Summer breaks.
Qualifications
- B.S. or B.A. in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline
- Strong academic record and research interest in physiology and/or neuroscience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Prior research experience is preferred but not required
