The Gerson lab at UMass Amherst is seeking applications for PhD students interested in eco-physiology and mechanistic physiology of birds. Ongoing projects in the lab are investigating the eco-physiology of avian migration, metabolic adaptations of long distance migratory birds, thermoregulatory physiology of temperate and tropical birds, and the development of methods for measuring metabolism in the field and in the lab.
