The Field Museum is a not-for-profit organization located on the Museum Campus of Chicago. Since the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, we have conducted research across all seven continents and accumulated a collection of over 40 million specimens and artifacts.

Applications are invited for the John Caldwell Meeker Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Earth Sciences Section of the Negaunee Integrative Research Center at the Field Museum. The successful candidate will be expected to complement and/or participate in any of the ongoing curatorial research programs in the Section. Candidates who employ state-of-the-art methodologies/technologies in their collections-based research are especially encouraged to apply. The Earth Sciences Section has a record of scientific excellence in collections-based research, with current strengths in phylogenetic systematics, comparative and functional morphology, paleoecology, paleoclimate, macroevolution, paleobotany, meteoritics, and cosmochemistry. Applications will be reviewed both for merit and suitability within the research and collections strengths of the Section. Applicants should contact curators with whom they are interested in collaborating well before applying.

A Ph.D. in a field of research represented in the Earth Sciences Section is required. The maximum term for this position is two years. The appointment is anticipated to begin on May 1, 2023, or soon thereafter.
