Assistant Professor of Biology (Ecologist)

The Department of Biology and Health Sciences at Hendrix College invites applications for a three-year term for an Assistant Professor to begin in August 2022. The College seeks to extend its tradition of excellence in teaching and scholarship by attracting faculty who combine mastery of their disciplines with broad intellectual interests and commitment to the aims of a liberal arts college.  The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in ecology and evolution, advanced ecology and/or evolution courses, and general biology courses. Teaching load is six course equivalents per year (one course equivalent comprises one lecture or two lab sections). Doctorate is preferred; ABD or other relevant terminal degrees will be considered.

Applications should include a cover letter addressing the candidate’s interest in teaching in a demanding liberal arts environment, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a statement of scholarly interest.  The cover letter should also include a statement indicating how the candidate plans to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work with students.  In addition, three letters of recommendation should be requested and sent by e-mail to facultyrecs@hendrix.edu with the applicant’s name in the subject line.
